 The
rate used to measure how fast a modem can send information over a telephone
wire. Three popular modem speeds are 9,600 bps, 14,400 bps, and 28,800
bps. The higher the bps, the faster the modem. Faster modems may cost
more, but they can also save you long distance charges by transmitting
your files faster.
